In 2021 we have asked Central European anatomists if they have ever heard about global standards in medical education. 70% of them have never heard of such, and only 7 % admitted that they are aware of specifically WFME standards (World Federation of Medical Education). In a joint effort with anatomists from Cambridge University, UK, and with educational developers from Karolinska Institute, Sweden, Central European anatomists have investigated common beliefs and assumptions about the quality of medical education. We hypothesized that a better understanding of global standards could help debunk myths about the quality and the prestige of medical education.
