The University of Pécs, together with the University of Burgos (Spain), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), and DELFT University of Technology (Netherlands), announces the successful conclusion of the Erasmus+ funded Join-Rise project. This initiative, formally titled Join-Rise – Joint Development of Innovative Blended Learning in STEM Curricula Based on SDGs for a Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Education, aimed to transform tertiary education by integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) into STEM teaching practices.
The final Multiplier Event (ME) and Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) took place on October 10th and 11th, 2024, in Burgos, Spain, marking the culmination of three years of dedicated work. Three lecturers from the University of Pécs participated in this closing event, joining their international colleagues to celebrate the project’s achievements.
The core objective of the Join-Rise project was to create innovative teaching materials and resources that empower educators in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and incorporate the UNSDGs into their curriculum. This includes the creation of a manual of best practices for STEM educators, offering strategies to weave global sustainability issues into the fabric of technical education.
In addition to the manual, the Join-Rise project also developed a Virtual Learning Platform (VLP) which provides students, educators, and curriculum developers with educational resources, including instructional videos, quizzes, and interactive content related to the UNSDGs. Upon completing the learning modules, students have the opportunity to earn a certificate of social commitment (CSC), further incentivizing engagement with sustainability-focused education.
As the project concludes, the Join-Rise platform and resources will continue to be available to educators and institutions across Europe, supporting the ongoing mission to enrich STEM education with real-world applications of the UNSDGs.
